Dr. Lenore Lyons Appointed Chairperson

Meet the new Chair of Australia's South West.

Australia’s South West is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Lenore Lyons as the new Independent Chair. Dr. Lyons brings a wealth of experience in tourism management and sustainability, making her an ideal leader to steer our vision as a leading, prosperous and sustainable tourism destination.

Dr. Lyons has worked in the tourism industry for over 15 years, co-founding an ecotourism business that was inducted into the WA Tourism Hall of Fame. She has also consulted to tourism businesses and destinations to build capacity and grow the nature-based, trails and adventure tourism market. Her leadership roles on tourism boards, land management organisations and outdoor recreation peak bodies have demonstrated a commitment to preserving natural resources while promoting tourism that respects and enhances local communities.

Having previously served on the Board of Australia’s South West for six years, in her new role Dr. Lyons hopes to further strengthen the organisation’s collaboration with members and industry.

“I am honoured and excited to begin my term as the new Chairperson of the ASW Board. As I step into this role, I am filled with a sense of enthusiasm and commitment to achieving our collective vision for the region.

Australia’s South West has a rich history of supporting members and promoting the region’s multitude of experiences to visitors. The recent launch of the ASW Wellness Tourism Strategy and the ASW Aboriginal Cultural Tourism Plan are examples of the organisation’s growing engagement in destination management and ongoing commitment to sustainability and responsible travel, issues that are close to my heart. I am eager to build upon this strong foundation and lead the organisation into the next phase of growth and innovation.

In the coming months, I look forward to engaging with the industry to understand your perspectives, ideas, and aspirations for our organisation. Your insights are invaluable as we work together to shape our future initiatives.

Thank you for your continued dedication and support.”
